Im using the Lexicon omega and cubase, Im trying to get a quality sound out of my Marshall MG-100 series head. I have plugged directly in before but its not same quality as when I use the Cabinet.

Sep 27, 2007 09:41 pm The direct out will probably be different unless you spend some time tweaking it. The best way is to mic it of course. And the Omega has built in Pre amp section for using a mic.
The other thought is you may be using way to much gain/distortion and that does not translate well when recorded direct. The amp itself is not set up to the likes of a direct recording device such as the POD or Toneport or the like. So it will not sound like what you hear coming out of the cabinet.
Sep 28, 2007 05:46 am yep, a microphone is in need here....if you like the sound of the cab, then mic it. i personally don't like the sound of recording distorted guitars direct....maybe if you have a good modeling preamp (line 6 or boss and whatnot)...but i still havn't found a better sound than cranking up a real amp and real speakers and miking it.
