Let me know your thoughts......on the song, vocals, production, etc. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

yeah steve, you'll get a better response if you 'hang out' with the community for awhile rather than sign up and post a link of your work....it just gives a "shameless self promotion" kinda feel. to the thread....i am currently 'speakerless' at the moment but will give it a listen in a day or so....

feel free to poke around and post some more

Hey Steve, Welcome to HRC.

Great guitar sound!

This sounds pretty high production, really well balanced and recorded.

Nice tune. Not a huge country fan but this is very good.

ooh, Sounds even better now i turned one of my speakers round the right way :)

Indeed, I as well am not a huge country fan. But OD likes it so I will agree, nicely done Steve. And welcome to HRC as well.

If I might ask, how was the opening acoustic guitar recorded, ie: mic used etc.? It has an old school sound to it, kind of lo fi almost.

it's a fact, artists just arn't good marketers.

this is a HUGE piece of the "music industry" that is missing these days.

back in my dumber days, i would rant on bands that didn't write their own songs...to me, that was artistically unacceptable...and considered some form of 'selling out'...

now, it's come full circle, first i realized how cool it would be to compose a work, then hand select the artist(s) to record it...WOW i KNOW Maynard can sing better than me! that was a big eye opener to me....

now the 'artist' has to wear the hats of 'composer', 'recording engineer', 'mixing engineer', 'mastering engineer', 'graphic designer', 'booking agent', 'publisher', 'promoter', 'record label owner', 'road tech', (and on some night's) 'front of house mixer'....i could prolly name about 5 more but i think y'all are getting my point.

i hate to hijack mr. Altonian's thread...but this becoming a bigger and more real issue to me every day.

i'm starting to think we're killing ourselves.

sorry do be such a gray cloud on this thread...but i say what i feel.

it's the whole thread topic in all caps that got me started with this....

in mr. Altonian's mind, all caps would mean more attention....there IS logic to that...but it shouldn't be his job to think about such things...it should be someone else's. cuz they wouldn't have done that (no offense).

I think this is a very nice tune. Very comforting and heartfelt. Is that you singing and playing guitar? Very nice vocal too. Good luck with this, it's excellent.

DUNGBEATLE

That's me singing...I Hired a session guitarist to play it exactly the way I do but with more precision and a little of his own style...He held true to the tune....It's like me playing perfectly in one take....which NEVER happens....LOL

I was smart enuff to fire myself on guitar...

Greatest compliment I can get is if you like it and it's NOT your style....

Thanks

That was very nicely done. Very impressive indeed.

I can't help but thinking, that a few background vocals on the 'Tell me why' part, beginning the chorus would really fatten up that part.

Not that it needs it, but I kept hearing it when the chorus starts.

Nowhere else seems to ask for it, just the parts where you sing high. Of course, it's just my .02$us =).

Nice job.

That's great, though I think I would tick off the musician, if I tried to do that =).

On a relative note, I already fired myself as singer, so it may be easier than I think =).
