I'm trying to figure out what i need to build a computer strictly for recording. I use a lot of synths and i hear that firewire has latency issues with synths so I think i'm set on getting a PCI card; any suggestions? i'm only looking to spend about $300 at the most

How many inputs and outputs do you need? If just stereo ins and outs go for the audiophile 2496 www.homerecordingconnecti...oduct=MDOAP2496 great card for great price.

To 2nd dB, any of the M-audio PCI cards i've had have worked great and still work well. I've had the above mentioned card for 6 years now.

I just bought the 2496 last week, and I love it. The signal-to-noise is 30 dB better than the stock card I replaced. It has my vote.
