Latency Problem : Please help

Hi All,

I have a laptop (it was high-end when purchased in 2003) running FL-Studio (I have the latest now). I also have a M-AUDIO USB AudioPhile. I have a Yamaha PSR2000 keyboard connected to Audiophile. I have a mixer (Behringer 8 channel analog mixer).

The steps that I used so far are:
(1) Make the minimal BEATs with variations in FL-Studio.
(2) Play them while recording any vocal from USB Audiophile.

(I don't have studio reference monitors yet. Let me know if I critically need it.)

When I play from FL-Studio, I can hear them in USBAudiophile's MONITOR (headphone). However, If I talk/sing it will be delayed (latency).

With this, how do I record as per the beats? I seriously need your guidance so that I can rearrange my equipment and achieve proper recording.

Please help.

Thanks & BR,
Govinda Padaki.

I am using the ASIO Driver. I have tried both the ASIO4ALL as well as the one that came with M-AUDIO.

Have you checked to see that your latency buffer is down around 128 or 256? That is the usual culprit. The other could be a bad driver install.

What kind of specs are on your PC?
