When I try to open it I get an error message stating that one or more sound cards do not support stereo and that the default audio format has been set to mono. Clicking "OK" on that message brings up another that says, "Unknown error in sequencer DLL."
What settings have I inadvertently changed? I wasn't messing with anything.

Sep 11, 2007 05:40 am sounds like it's havin' an issue with your soundcard...what are you using?
Sep 11, 2007 05:42 am ok i checked your profile....nevermind.
is your SoundBlaster using a WDM, ASIO or MME driver? it should tell you either in Sonar, or in your audio options in the control panel.
if it's MME you're in trouble, i have worked with WDM drivers and it is workable, but ASIO is by far the best for audio.
Sep 11, 2007 05:02 pm I don't know. In the control panel for SoundBlaster it just says:
Driver Provider: CREATIVE
Driver Date: 10/13/06
Driver Version: 5.12.1.618
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publ
Sep 12, 2007 02:33 am check in sonar's audio options....it'll tell ya the type of driver you're using.
Sep 12, 2007 12:32 pm That's the thing; I can't get into Sonar.
Sep 12, 2007 12:44 pm While you're waiting for a better answer you can try removing and reinstalling Sonar.

You need to try 2 things. Uninstall the SB drivers, then re-install them. Also get any updated drivers Creative has for your card and get them installed as well.
Every Sound Blaster made supported stereo so something is wrong there.
Do the same with Sonar, un-install and then re-install it. And go get all the updates and get them installed as well. Let it set the sound card up after you get it installed. It will pick the WDM drivers by default.
I see you are using Sonar 4, it had several updates that were very important.
