Hello.
I am looking for software that may have a lot of template beats or loops, where you can add a crash or ride cymble if needs be,Basically, you do not have to construct all the beats yourself, ps it must be easyish to use.

Aug 29, 2007 10:16 am I just checked out the Jamstix 2 demo, it runs on my home PC. (jamstix 1 wouldn't run on my laptop, or my audio rig)
It's pretty sweet. Fills in all the stuff for you, or, like I did, just start your host, and let JamStix do the work for you.
From what I read, they've re-written almost all the stuff, for better working, etc.
Worth a look, I'd say, as it's drop dead simple.
Aug 29, 2007 11:00 am Thanks, I had a look at jamstix screenshots,it might be the one.
Thanks.
Download it tonight.

Aug 29, 2007 11:04 am ha, they have different 'people' you can have as your drummer, like John, or Phil, or whatever. There's like 15 or them.
I was looking for the drunken drummer, but didn't find one =).
Aug 29, 2007 11:36 am Ah good..
Does the Drummer make a cup of tea if I ask him too ? :-)
I am looking forward to having a go at this.

Jan 10, 2011 01:20 pm Hey guys
Any recent feedback on the latest version of Jamstix? I'm having problems getting Sonar X1 to see my EXDrummer VSTi and thought it might be time to try something else. Looks like it is fairly inexpensive as well. Soooo, anyone using it now or have a better solution? I'm just looking for an easy way to lay down basic beats for composing.

Jan 10, 2011 05:00 pm I just upgraded from version 2 myself before Christmas. :)
Feel free to give the demo a try. The drummers are AI which are modeled after various real-life drummers. Though they don't say who. The descriptions of each drummer are fairly informative.
I basically select a style, choose the meter and bar counts, set it to Jam with Midi (where it creates the groove based on what kinda midi data it receives, but you can also set it to listen to audio, which can be somewhat more realistic. I tend to do midi first, then switch to audio, and let it have another go at it.)
There's a lot of info on how to do different things on their forum as well. For example you can manually enter in a groove/drum pattern, and the brain is supposed to be able to model the rest of the percussion around that original pattern. It's some pretty neat stuff, and the application can get as deep as you want, or you can float on the surface and have the "brain" do everything as if you had a session drummer of sorts. The samples included aren't bad either.
The layout was a bit big for my screen (since I'm still on an older monitor at 1024x768 resolution) but they have an option to shrink parts of the gui down a bit, so I can see everything on my screen. I thought that was a nice touch.
Of course, if you don't want the built-in drummers involved, you can shut the brain off completely and use it as a drum programmer/rompler.
Ralph does an incredible job with answering questions, giving advice, and helping out on the forum as well.

Jan 12, 2011 02:26 am I'm using Jamstix 3 as well. J-bot's describe it's functions pretty well. I use it to generate a quick part while laying down tracks then I'll go back and flesh it out into a full fleged drum part. I've also used it with drums I played on my TD6 and had it do the fills and stuff I couldn't do. :) It has some really nice kit's and the expansions are very reasonable as well.

Jan 12, 2011 01:49 pm It is definitely about getting down some tracks quickly. It is really frustrating if it takes away focus from writing/composing. I have a similar work flow to you Dan. I just need a glorified click track and then I add fills and tweak later. I like EZdrummer for this but it is time to look at new options. Jamstix sounds like the ticket.
Thanks guys!
