Vick the Dick

Well, he turned in his plea, the judge reminded Vick the Dick that he is not bound by any agreement and can pass whatever sentence he damn well feels like within sentencing guidelines. I liek the sound of that, especially since this judge is known for tough sentences.

Then, the NFL suspends him indefinately because even associating with gamblers comes with lifetime bans...

I think it's kinda sad that the NFL is saying they will ban him for gambling, or associating with gamblers...have they not seen or heard his confession of personally killing 6-8 dogs by hanging or drowning, the brutal grounds that his kennels were with stands to strap down females for breeding the media called "rape stands", the horrific training methods, breeding dogs only to cut the neck of the puppies to train the fighters to go for the neck?

Now, I understand the NFL needs to cite the actual rules broken to warrant the ban, but to me, the gambling is so inconsequential I pretty much don't even think about that part of it.

I was told by a buddy that Vick is projected to loose like 100 million in endorsements and I just watched a video of the Falcons management saying that they are going to go after his signing bonus.

Wow, what a quick fall from glory.

i am wondering what would happen if someone sends vick 'white fang' while in prison. if you remember the book, it's a wild wolf that's taken as a puppy, is treated cruelly, used as a fighting dog, abused, nearly killed, etc. but the dog has a fierce resolve and survives, and eventually he comes by a loving owner and the dog learns to love. all told from the dog's perspective of course. wonder what he'd take from it.

so db i take it you think vick should never play again?

Part of me says the guy has to work, and from what I have seen, if he doesn't play football, he may not be able to get a job as a ditch digger (not knocking any ditch diggers out there)...but at the same time, I really think the people who wield the power, have to be responsible for who they project into celebrity status and role-model type positions.

Athletes that get drunk and in bar fights is stuff that happens to lots of people, not good, not something I condone, but not horrible...when they start beating their spouses and things of the nature Vick did I think we are entering a different caliber of person...the stuff Vick is accused of is, in my opinion, particularly heinous and disgusting...and I guess pressed against the wall for an answer, I'd say no, do not let him back in the NFL.

Vick had the opportunity of a lifetime and he threw it all away through a series of bad decisions.

He blew his chance, a chance that most of us will never have. Why should he get another chance?

Forty, what I see as the main crime isn't even the fighting, though bad enough, look at the conditions, how they trained, how they punished bad performers, how they bred them, if 50% of the allegations are true it's inhumane and brutal to a degree that makes me sick.

It's more than likely he's already set for life monetarily and he's going to have no problem making a living doing something after this at least long enough to get him by. People have said that prison is too harsh based on the actual crimes (compared to others) but since he comes out pretty good financially prison is really the only punishment.

He loses $100million but he probably already has $50mill or $25mill. Most likely someone will pay him to play football again in a couple of years (Raiders anyone ?)

Prison is the real punishment, the rest probably doesn't matter too much.

depends on how much of the money he will get to keep, legal fees, endorsement contract loses, how much the falcons and endorsement companies will sue to get back for breach of contracts and other such things may cost a ****** lot!

I read an article on this. Based on the collective bargaining agreement they can only get back about $3mill (a portion of his guaranteed bonus). He's actually well into his contract. So he gets to keep what he's already earned basically which is multi millions, this is his second contract. He also gets to keep any earnings from previous endorsement deals that have now ended which again is multi millions.

Now of course I have to assume that he hasn't spent or gambled this all but I just find it amusing when reports say he has lost $100mill, well that's $100mill he never had and he's left with "only" $20mill :)

Yeah, but it's pretty often one hears of fallen celebs that just can't accept a lifestyle like we have a spend themselves down to nothing...

That's why people do Surreal Life :-)
