What would be a good preamp to start off with?
Vocal and guitar mostly...
some bass.

Aug 02, 2007 12:23 pm FMR RNP or ART Pro Channel if ya want good quality on the cheap....if that's out of your price range any of the samson, beri's, or smaller arts will all perform about the same...check the specs before you buy, you want LOW self noize.

Aug 02, 2007 06:55 pm Tallchap's been using the Studio Projects VTB1, i think. I believe he's been happy with it.
If I was gonna buy one, I'd probably look into the ART line, like the pro channel (or similar). Maybe the presonus line as well.
Aug 02, 2007 07:00 pm oh DUH!!! yeah, i've got a blue tube and it's been really good to me...though the OD isn't all that useful. but it's dual-path so i can bypass the tube...
