free mpeg 4 converter?

heres my problem . . . i recently purchased a PALM pda . . . i then purchased a NEOROS mpeg 4 recorder . . . but my pda seems to only play mpeg files . . . is there a free mpeg 4 to mpeg converter? . . . or any other suggestions?
