Name that mental illness

Guys, it's killing me here, I am scouring the web to find the name of that mental disorder that people have when they add value to their worth by victimizing their kids.

That kid in the movie "The Sixth Sense" that was killed by her mother as the mom was feeding her rat poison to keep her ill so she felt "needed" or the Texas mom that killed her daughter competition for the cheer leading squad.

I can't find that anywhere, but it does have a name, I just can't find it!

Help!

I think you're looking for Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII), formorly known as Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy.

Actually, a basic obsessive/compulsive personality disorder is better fit...but the fabricated illness one fits too, but replacing "illness" with "drama".

Yeah the latter is probably just an offshoot of the former.

You know how these experts are always trying to subcategerize almost to a case by case basis.

yeah, kinda like musicians trying to make a genre for every single little minute difference in music...

It's definitely in the "family" of FII...Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy sounds so much cooler though.

Yeh, it's very hip nowadays to change the name of a condition in hopes that changing the name will somehow change the condition. Retarded people become "developmentally disabled", etc. The more syllables in the new term, the better.

My favorite dodge of the truth was when I heard someone refer to fat people as "gravitationally inconvenienced".

My wife and I talk about this "softening of society" often. One cannot say what one really thinks any more, unless it's padded with watered down, politically correct language. This is one of the reasons why many of my posts lack verbosity.

That, along with the fact that I'm just ****** in the head.

Actually around here "retard" is taken as quite an insult. The politcally correct way is "mentally challenged". I never really hear anyone around here using that term. It's one of those, oooh, he said the "r" word kind of things. I know that in the US "retard" is used even in the law so go figure.

That's with the overpronunciation "reetard", used as a noun, which I think is deliberately meant to be offensive. "Retard" is a verb. There's nothing wrong with "retarded" as an adjective.

I'd hate too have to say:

My timing on my truck is a little 'mentally challenged'.
