Listening now...sounds very good! Everything seems to be recorded and mixed very well! Drums are pretty tight. Guitars sound great and sit very well in the mix. Nice job. You ought to list your gear in your profile so that we know how you got everything sounding so good!

Thank you! I actually just did that. I've been in the recording world for about 3 months now and love it! I appreciate the compliment! More comments are encouraged!

Skidude, the tune sounds pretty good from an engineering standpoint. It's tough to offer any mixing critique unless I know the mood you're looking for. If it's a hard 'metal' sound, I'd suggest some things. If it's more of a pop kind of 'Yanni' sound you're looking for, I'd suggest other things.

Also, Bob Rock isn't even Bob Rock.

Well first I think you guys have alot of potential so dont take anything I say to harshly.

For the kit, I would work on the mic placement and compression. The kick seems a little weak and undefined.

As far as the mix entirely, I would bring the keyboards or whatever fx that is back a little and maybe pan it a little more. Actually, considering the quality of studio monitors I have at home and the way it sounds, try hard panning and layering stuff to get a thicker and more of a wide sound.

You guys gonna toss in some vox in this one?

For sure. Vox are being recorded this week hopefully, which will help me out a lot with the overall mix. I want to try to get the guitar out of the center.

Do you have any tips on panning guitar? I am the only guitarist, and outside of bass, vox and drums, just a keyboard/synth player. The keys are already hard panned. The guitar is only about 20 out of 100 to the left right now, which leaves room in the center/right for vox.

Do you recommend going further out with the guitar and maybe doubling and stereoing it?

Also, with the drums, right now I already know that I want a little more initial snap on the kick. Also, the way I have it EQ'd, I need to cut out some of the deep (lower than 100hz) to leave room for the bass (to avoid muddiness). Also, I still want to put an HPF on the guitar to get rid of the 100-80Hz and lower.. also leaving room for the bass.

What are some good frequencies to boost for good snap on the snare, kick, toms? Or visa versa, some good frequencies to cut? I think that I have a lot to learn yet on EQ..

I'm definitely open for suggestions, and I definitely want some fresh ears from all you out there on HRC to hook me up with some feedback. Definitely a noob, but I need the tips to cut some good mixes!

The guitar and hi-hat sound great. I would have to agree with lexalotacus on the kick, as well as the snare. they both seem to be a little too far in the back. I do agree that the vocals, when in a song, do help alot with the final mix.
