Power Amps

I just bought a new PowerAmp (QSC RMX850)to power our monitors for live performance. I have an existing Behringer 2500 to power the Mains. Is it ok to stack these Power Amps on top of each other?? The amps have about 1/2" of space between them and the cooling fans are located in the front of the units. I see them stacked in rack units all the time, but wondering if this is enough clearance between the 2.

You can just stack them right on top of each other, amp cases are usually well vented and the fans move a lot of air, so you should be just fine. if you are nervous at all, a small floor fan blowing on the rack isn't a bad thing, but those cheap floor fans can make noise if they are plugged in to the same circuit that all the other gear is.

After a show amps were always the last thing I hauled out. Right after the show, shut 'em off, unplug 'em and let them sit while everything else gets torn down and hauled out. With tube amps that is a must, with solid state it's not but I always did it anyway, they get outrageously hot sometimes.

Just a word of warning........ When the amps have been switched off, I recommend leaving them plugged into the socket (albeit switched off) as to allow for capacitor drain. If not and the elec circuit isn't up to scratch, you can blow the transformer... It happened to me!!!

but yeah as dB sai stacking them isn't a problem. I use two 1x800w + 1x400w (a third will be added soon!)

hehehe, yeah, the amp racks are always heavy as hell, when I have helped set up big sound systems, like thousands and thousands of watts, 8 amps to a rack and such, those get HEAVY! But then, so are the bins they power...
