Can somebody explain to me, step by step, what they did to create the bug of no modification option. I can't duplicate it!

Last night I was able to upload a song just like I always have. Today I wanted to update the mix so I clicked on my account>manage your songs>clicked on "modify song" and the option box to delete the file and browse your computer for the new one wasn't there. Only a pointer to a URL appeared. That's it, no error appeared just the option box and browse file field was gone.

All I did was try to replace the file with a new mix. The filename on the new mix was different than the old. If memory serves, I may have tried to slightly alter the song title at the same time. I got a "successful upload" message. When it wouldn't play, I went back to song management and found the symptoms BH describes.

OK, thanks...I'll dig into it tonight.

I suspect it's something pretty simply...I also see the download script is bork...that should be an easy fix after I get back from going to the cop shop, school principal's office, lawyer, bank and such...not necessarily in that order.

Then I am drinking heavily.

I did find out I can't pin charges for lawyer on her, he said he asks about 50 times a year and never gets it...

I found the song management problem, not fixed yet, but I figgered out what it is...

Serves me right for coding while sober...gotta go to the fridge first.

that seems so 'not right'. if some bozo starts a lawsuit against you for illegal reasons, then you're stuck with the bill to defend yourself.

That ain't right.

Not sure if this will help but this is what I see (all the songs are the same). The player just won't play at all so no point in a screecap for that. I know you are going to want to get to the bottom of this but don't sweat it on my account.

Thanks, that does help, but, makes no sense, I can't duplicate it...not with songs I already have up or songs I am now adding...weird.

...more info. Your song, and everyone elses that I tried plays but none of mine (not just the most recent one).

For the record, mine isn't a song, it's a ringtone :-)

I suspect something went screwy with your one record, try a new one, or maybe with some old ones...ones that have few or no votes n stuff if you don't want to loose them...

Cuz it seems to be working fine for me...if you want to keep votes and whatnot, let me know I'll dive in the database and see if I can manually fix your record, but I suspect it's something funky from the migration, or the couple fixing attempts you did while it was broke.

I think I know what it is. I think it is a bitrate issue. The old player use to work on 192 and now I see it wouldn't even allow me to upload due to the bitrate. Only 128. All my songs were uploaded as 192 in the past. The new upload I did works.

I am not validating or even checking bitrate at all...the player will play any bitrate mp3, it just needs a valid mp3 encoded file. I have, a long time ago, allowed only 128 bitrate (or whatever it was) to be uploaded, but as I recall I dropped that a long time ago.

Good thought, but I don't think that's the case.

The only thing I do check is that it is a valid mp3 encoding.

The one I had the problem with was at 192, and it uploaded OK. But, not until after I deleted the previous version...

What this means, I dunnooo.

This error popped up when I tried to upload at 192.
File type error

Any uploaded file must be a valid mp3 encoded to 128kbps and 44100kHz frequency.
I didn't get that one. Interesting.

AH, OK, I found that error message, however, the conditional that shows it currently only checks for the validity of an mp3 encoding, not the bit rate any more, I just forgot to change the error message, may bad, logical assumption on your part.
