Cubase LE problem

Hi, I just started using Cubase LE with my intel iMac, and I can't seem to open the Score Editor or Key editor in the MIDI menu. I'd like to use the score editor to make synth horn parts for a song I'm recording. I've enabled a MIDI track, selected the part of the track that I want to use the score editor for, and enabled the track for recording. No matter what I try the score editor, key editor, and anything under the "scores" submenu is greyed out and impossible to open. Is there anything that I'm not doing that must be done to enable the score editor to be used? Thanks.

i don't use cubase for midi stuff BUT, i'm pretty sure "score editor" has nothing to do with your ability to insert a VST instrument, and sequence midi tracks....i'd bet it's a notation thing.

search the help for "adding vst instrument"....and "midi sequencing"

i know cubase LE can do this, i just don't know how.

You may not be able to use that function in the LE version of Cubase. Unless there is an option to enable it in your preferences for the midi and audio section. It is not uncommon for some software makers to disable certain parts of the software in order to kind of force you to purchase the higher level app. I do not use Cubase here anymore unfortunately so I am not absolutely certain either.

Here is a page to let you know what the LE version can do. www.steinbergusers.com/cubase/compchart2.php It appears as though score should be enabled, but again I m not sure. But midi editing functions appear to not be enabled. Very odd indeed.

Grab the pencil tool and draw a little bit of MIDI data. Double click on the midi data and viola (yes, viola).
