Herb<---Rimshot, crash.....

S'funny. The original reason I started playing was to 'get girls.'
Then I played in a band where I actually had a following of teenage girls who'd crowd my mike stand (I was nineteen and lovely....what the hell happened!?). Weird thing was that after the show they'd all come to talk to me, and I just had a real problem with it. It all seemed very shallow. Not real. Maybe I was just shy. But it affected me that these girls only wanted to talk to me 'cos I was in the band! I'm sure they wouldn't have given me the time of day if I was just a 'punter' at the bar. I'd go to the dressing room and get drunk.

No, I'm not gay...

Never underestimate the aphrodisiac power of a pointy guitar and make-up!(it was the 80's, it was Glam).
The 30" waist and 'big' hair probably helped [looks down at 40+ year old body....ugh!].

Bring back the glam!

Actually my daughter is going to artistry make-up college in July. She has been acting/singing for quite awhile and theatre is her thing... anyways, I'm sure that our band (now that she has joined us) will be prime candidates for performance make-up. Now THAT is going to be interesting :)

I was in a glam band in high school. I run across the pictures every once in a while and chuckle.

The funny thing is that all of my family still remembers coming to see us play and still think that's what I do.

All photos of me in my glam days have been destroyed! Well, one was stolen by a girlfriend...but we won't go there.
I'll see if I can find my old passport. The pic in there has me with hair that would make Poison/Motley Crue etc. envy. Big. And LONG. You wouldnt believe the amount of shampoo/gel/lacquer I went through.

Geesh. Why did we do it?
Oh, yeah. To get girls.
Oh.
See above.
Geesh.

Yep, and don't forget the permed hair. That was in around here for awhile. And yes, I went through that as well. Like you said, the things we did for chicks.

And oh ya, BH that is funny as they come. And soooo true. I used to keep an acoustic in the car for just that reason.

Never did the mullet but came close. I had the McCartney Wings era hair going for awhile.

I think the Emo hair style is the new mullet.

Its funny to see all these kids walking around with the sad faces and the long comb over from the top of their heads down over their eyes. I saw what had to be a band of kids where each one had the emo hair and the only difference was to what side it was combed.

Man I can only remember my high school jam days as being so electric (no pun intended) and being "sad" was the farthest thing from our minds.

Yep, I like some of the bands or music. But can't say I get the sadness it is supposed to portray.
