Jerry Falwell laid part of the blame for the 9/11 attacks on liberals... IMHO, he was evil...

I blame a lot of things on bad judgement from both sides of the isle but to call the guy evil and put him in the same pot as a terrorist that blows up innocent women and children is a little ridiculas to say the least.

I'm not sticking up for the guy and I will even say that he was a little wacky at times but evil in the same sense as whats referred to as evil when talking about a rapist or murderer or some islamic wackjob is a stretch.

Stating that your opinion is a humble one when you're calling someone evil is hilarious to me.

I'm not picking on ya or anything but its funny!

pffffft, a lot of liberals lay 9/11 blame squarely on Bush, so whatever...

Sorry, I thought the 'H' meant "honest"... And I don't blame anyone but the people who were part of 9/11... No one else... And I don't put Falwell in the same group as terrorists. I just think he was a bad man...

While I didn't agree with everything he said, he was a bit farther right than me, he at least stood up for his beliefs and had a hard line of moral base...my biggest problem with the left is relative morality...if it's right it's right, if it's wrong it's wrong, period. Relative morality just doesn't process for me.

That said, I don't want to turn this in to a debate on that, we have enough of those threads :-)

Whats so "H" is for honest about your opinion? Did you have first hand personal knowledge of who he was as a man? Did you know his heart from having many a long talk with him or are you only basing your venom on the 30 second sound bites you have heard over the years about him from those others who hate Christians?

I would agree that his tactics at times and some of the ways he went about things werent perfect. Who is? What was so particularly "bad" about him? Other than he was a Christian. :)) He never waivered on biblical truth (I know that statement is fodder for a whole separate debate) and the guy did a lot for those less fortunate.

I actually blame Katrina on Bush DB. :)) I saw him down there with a spoon weakening those levies. I wonder why nobody has called the ultra intelligent Rosie O'Donnell to the table on how fire melted the steel & concrete overpass out in San Fran. That heat was an 1/8th of the intensity that brought down the twin towers and the other building.

Getting back to Falwell...I just think its sad that people dont have enough respect anymore for a grieving family to at least wait till he has been burried before the bloggers out there spill out all the vile venom.

I wonder if a prominent and controversial Imam died if people would be so mean. eehhh probably not that would be insensitive. :))

Yeah, you know, I had that exact same thought when that happened, then on the way home from work the next day Michael Medved was saying the exact same thing on his radio show.

Rosie O'Donnell is such an incredible idiot it's comical...I have heard radical militant lefties like her blame Bush directly for 9/11, Katrina, Global Warming, Increase in Rape and so much more it is just downright funny.

Of course, now, the way the left wants to create "fairness" is to police the radio, now they want to limit right wing radio talk shows...why? To create fairness? No, because the left hasn't had success in radio talk shows...Air America is an abysmal failure...they haven't been able to get and keep an audience, the right has, so now they want to take it down.

Crap, now I am going places this thread shouldn't go.

Forget me too...

My biggest problem is the sheer number of Liberty University alumni who are working in the Bush administration. It's very lopsided. There are just a handful of Yale/Harvard law school graduates, and about 150 LU guys. I just have a problem when religion creeps (not creeps...er....kicks the door down, more like) into government. I don't have a problem with people having their faith, but it should not be used to govern the country. Falwell inserted himself squarely into the political arena on the evangelical ticket. The Bush administration has embraced it.

Being a religious man, I have no problem, and would rather encourage, government to use Religious ideals to govern.

To more accurately explain my position, I would should say Biblical ideals...because, as with any organized religion, the true Biblical ideals often get skewed and bastardized to help the religion's ultimate agendas...

Okay, I get you. Having some decency and morals is a good thing, but if faith based ideals become laws then there is a problem. I know the can of worms waiting to open here, but the government is for the people. All the people. If you have Christian-based laws for everyone - including non-christians (and that goes for all faiths) then there is a conflict of interest.

On the whole, the crux of our laws are based on basic Judeo-Christian values anyway...as is most of the civilized world. I think personally, it's when you start getting beyond it is when things get funky.

Don't lie, don't steal, don't hurt/kill, don't be a dick. That is really about all we need...everything beyond that is fluff.

Treat others how you want to be treated and badda-bing, badda-boom, Utopia. Unless, of course, you are into cutting and stuff...

lol - actually I was going to see him (uh, Carlin) at Las Vegas but it was too expensive (for me anyways).

I remember hearing 7 words that you can't say on TV a long, long time ago. Hilarious! Oh, and the "place for my stuff" gag was funny as hell too.

I had front row tickets for Carlin for me, my wife and a couple friends...the date got changed and nobody told me...

I have rarely been as pissed as I was that night when I showed up at the Casino ready for a great show.

Carlin is smart, he is funny, but I would never call him a hero of mine or anything.

On the whole I wish celebrities would just shut up and stop trying to prove to everybody they are experts on everything. Not saying Carlin does that, but many do.

There has really been way too much mis-information on what the separation of church and state REALLY says and MEANS.

As a Christian I am totally up for bringing every single religion into the school systems to be taught and into every public arena for debate and for "the people" to decide what is best for them individually and collectively. I know based on all of my years of study what most rationally thinking and somewhat intelligent people will come to as a conclusion based on real facts and not just the fuzzy feel good emotional faith shtuff. I have no fear of any other organized religion on this planet making a better case for what is the real deal. But the author of all deceipt and lies knows that if true exposure and due dilligence are allowed to thrive with each religion getting equal opportunities for being picked apart. Christianity would rule the day. ;)

This is why everything Christian gets shot down and forced into the preverbial closet of public domain and everything else gets as much "politically correct" facetime they can handle. Sensitivity only seems to apply to everyone else other than Christians and Jews.

Truth is and has always been the bearer of persecution.

that just sounds odd commin' from a christian.

but i am in total agreement that ALL religions should be taught.

I am an odd one... :) Thats a given!

Let me qualify that statement...

I dont need to rely solely on an emotional experience to know that my God is real. I can demonstrate to people who are, at the least, minimally intelligent, enough real facts to back up what eventually turns into a life-walk of unshakable faith in who and what Christ is.

Thats all!

Does anyone feel that a can of worms gets opened when people criticize Christianity or is the can of worms only opened when a Christian responds. :))

I am in no way angry or even the slightest bit bothered by any negative language brought forth here... so no problem on my end Bro's!

Just allow me to say what I feel needs said too. We are just people talking here. I'm not taking anything personally.

Peace to all!
