Apr 19, 2007 06:29 pm staring or looking can mean different things in different cultures. i know when i was in high school, stare at the wrong people and expect to get in a fight.
That said, the above quotes are still ridiculous.
Apr 19, 2007 06:33 pm Oh, sure, but who are the people that will fight if you stare at them for one second too long? Typically the bullies of the school...
At least, that's how it was where I went to school, the "tough guys", or more often, the wanna be tough guys, would do that stupid "what you lookin at" crap.
Regardless, it's an incredibly stupid precedent to actually make such a big note of...

Apr 22, 2007 08:55 pm What the hell is going on in this world. I keep my head shaved, should I be offended when someone stares at me?
Its just way too much.

Apr 24, 2007 12:06 am Oh yes! Staring is Bad! Bad is staring! But use great caution! Not looking is a sign of serious disorders learking in ones head too! Sighting profiling per VA incident, one must look. I think we need to pay our wonderfull governments to pass laws on approperiate looking periods. Maybe say 2.845 to 3.128 seconds. Something with a reasonable window. Police could run around with Look-O-Meters, like breathalizers!
Look into my meter you pervert!

Apr 24, 2007 12:18 am I remember when I was young, (and not so young) being told "it's not polite to stare". That's all the direction I've needed.
I think the 'Secretary of Insight' is earning his title =).
Apr 24, 2007 01:40 am I don't know, some of the best relationships in my life started with staring. It's the first step to saying hello.
Apr 24, 2007 11:50 am If staring doesn't work try wiggling your eyebrows at the same time.:)

Apr 24, 2007 01:41 pm Got to agree with Karyn. That 'stare' thing always worked for me.
Apr 24, 2007 01:50 pm Yes,but if it's coming from someone in the crowd beware,it could be a 'bunny boiler'or they may ask 'play Misty for me':0

Apr 24, 2007 11:19 pm Karyn I gotta agree with you, staring always worked for me. That and the fact that when Tuna was much younger he had a thing for grabbing womens fannies. Not something he as taught by me either, I am thinking more from his godfather. But it did indeed lead to many interesting meetings, and no one was slapped at the end either. But that was many years ago now. I wonder what would happen if he did that in a line at Target or the local grocery now???
Apr 25, 2007 02:36 pm In UK grabbing womens fannies is a different piece of anatomy:) however it always reminds me of a cookery program on the tv.It was hosted by Fanny Craddoc. One week her husband did the show and made some doughnuts and said "If you've done it right all your doughnuts will turn out like Fannies"hehe.

Apr 26, 2007 03:06 pm I remember Johnnie! She treated him like something she scraped off her shoe!
Love that 'Colemanball' quote.
I must admit that as a kid I was drawn to all the cooking shows - Fanny Cradock; Galloping Gourmet; Farmhouse Kitchen (you'd forgotten about that one...) etc.
It actually helped me become a good cook.
(Which helped once I'd gotten past the inept "pick up" with girls)
