Anyone know what the best mics are that dont cost 1000 dollars? I know what mics are top of the line but unfortunitly i can't afford those right now. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Also i was wondering what everyone likes on kick drums and guitar amps (in addition to a 57)

Thanks guys!

the middle ground ones that are really good and normally highly recomended are the audio technica 4033 and the AKG 3000, there both amaxing, equal quality, its just up to ur personal preferance and someitmes the vocalist, the middle studio that records other bands should ahve both ;)

I dont really have a definite price range set, i just know i cant really spend 1000 bucks on one mic. If i could find one for less than or equal to 500 that can still get me a good product that would be best

i got an AKG 3000 for under 500 and it sounds great. Not as good as a Neumann but good.

The 3000 i find kind of thin, one-dimensional, but the 4000 has always been a favourite for the price. It was one of the first decent mics i bought, at one point i just had that and a 57 and the two together covered a lot of ground. 4000 can totally handle bass stuff - i love it on kick drum (but put the pad on), plus it has 3 patterns - omni, cardoid and hypercardoid.

Seconded on the 4033, another decent all-round mic.

I like my Rode mics :) Not the be all end all I'm sure, but worth a look/read.
