Hello all..
I've been a drummer for years, but have only recenlty started putting together my own home recording studio. I have a question on Mic'ing the drums:
I have an 8 channel mixer and about 6 drum mic's. Rather than taking up all 6 channels on the main mixer, are there products out there that allow you to run my drum mics into another device first (maybe another pre-amp / mixer) then have ONE output which would go into the main mixer??
I'm not sure what you would call such a device..
Thanks!!

Mar 26, 2007 05:32 pm I have a line mixer that I use for this. Basically it is a mixer without pre-amps (I have a separate pre-amp). Either way sounds like you need another mixer of sorts.

Mar 27, 2007 11:07 am I'm going to agree with Hujambo here. If you can keep the kick and snare separate, you'll have much less trouble when you come to mixing.
Mar 27, 2007 10:08 pm Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and purchased a line mixer and will go ahead and mix the toms and cymbals together, keeping the kick and snare on separate channels...so I'll only use 3 channels on the main mixer.
Just having the line mixer will give me options..so thats cool.
Thank you again...
