Midi Keyboard Question

I have absolutely experience in using midi-keyboards (or in any midi) although I can play the piano (just about). Anyway I was thinkig of buying this M-Audio Oxygen 8 midi keyboard.

www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Oxygen8v2-main.html

My plan for this was to load samples from Absynth onto they keyboard to use during live shows. Firstly can I load samples from Absynth onto this?
Next question, how can I use a midi keyboard live? I assumed the would just have a standard jack output so I could plug it into an amp… I know this is a usb keyboard but it also has its own power supple so im guessing it wont need a pc to used this live?
I would appreciate any help!

That keyboard is just a controller isn't it? If so then when you're playing live you'll need your computer or a sampler - something that contains sounds. A controller doesn't have its own sounds and you can't load them in, it just controls sounds that you have stored in a sampler, computer etc.

some work off usb, some use external power. The M-audio radium 49 works off both.

Uh, at least one more time . . .

Well, I have the M-Audio 49-e, which set me back $100.00. I run it through a Dell, using the Korg
Wavestation software (about $200.00). I've never played it "live," but I have run it through the soundcard (E-mu 0404), and from there to the stereo in on my Adcom system, and let me tell you, it sounds great. That means you coud run this same system through a mixing desk at a show, and get all the benefits . . . I just take the the Dell with me to practice, unhooking all the stuff, and then rehooking it (there's a monitor there), and it's really no big hassle, though I am worried about the wear on the plugs and wires.
The M-Audio 49-e is a no-frills keyboard; the Wave station software is very nice indeed. You can get freeware, I'm sure, to run with the keyboard, and save even more money, and get great sounds to boot.

I have done many set ups for guys who use controllers with PC or laptop live. I set them up either running Project 5 v2 or something like Reason which allows you to play the software synths and samplers in real time. I prefer Project 5 as it allows real time control with much lower latency and can also trigger loops and full sequences live from the controller as well. You can set up full on sets with it as well. But I know there are many out there now who prefer doing it this way via a laptop or PC live for the much larger and quicker data base and loading of samples.
