Hello all,
I am looking around for some drum software...I would (ideally) like it to be able to do everything from jazz to double-bass metal...so I was considering paying $59 for the upgrade from Home Studio to Home Studio XL, which includes Session Drummer 2 as well as several other good looking plugins. Session Drummer 2 seems like it would suit my purposes...I searched around on the forums, but the majority of info on Drum software is fairly dated...any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any info/input.
Edit - Sorry, I just realized I should have posted this in the computer forum...my bad.

Mar 19, 2007 02:44 pm Yowser. You weren't kidding about the additional goodies. That looks killer, but it seems like it might be complicated for a newbie? What do you think? I don't even know what half of that stuff is for....but it sounds like it's got all of my drum needs met and exceeded, and a wonderland of other instruments to boot....as far as cost goes, everything I've read leads me to believe that I would end up upgrading to something like this eventually anyways...I just don't want to get in over my head technology-wise...seems like it would be similar to learning to drive in a 1000 hp Bugatti.
Mar 19, 2007 02:46 pm Actually I found P5 to be very easy, it is usable as virtual instruments right inside Sonar...so you are actually using the Sonar MIDI implementation/features to control the Project5 instruments.
Of course, you can also use P5 as a standalone app as well...

Mar 19, 2007 02:52 pm Cool, I'll definitely look into it more then. Seems like it would solve my immediate needs, and also keep me from having to put all of the other stuff together piecemeal over the next few months/years/whatever. Thanks for the heads-up and quick responses dB.
Mar 19, 2007 03:58 pm Let me know what you think, I think you could download a demo and try it (hopefully) from cakewalk.com. I think you'll dig it, and yeah, it has enough sound patches and virtual knobs and faders to keep you busy for ages...
