I just bought the Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire and it was hells from the start up till now. At the moment the soundcard seem to be disappearing from my computer. If I am listening to something the audio stops even if the music is playing. I get nothing coming from the monitors. The mixer's control panel is empty meaning that the mixes is not installed. I have to restart my pc to make it work again. Why is it pooping out so often? Help!!I am running it on windors xp.

Whoa. May be time for an uninstall / reinstall. That would be my first guess.

It did not have any software to install. It is USB plug and play. The PC saw it instantly (I run XP) and everything else is working fine. It just seems that no signal is getting into the sequencer. I desperately need help on how to configure it to get the signal into the sequencer. What I play I can hear and I play files from the sequencer that I have already pre-recorded on Sonar. But I cant record anything else. Help!

It sounds like you need to go to the alesis web site and download the latest drivers for the board. The board itself will interface as a stand alone sound card with your recording software. XP will recognize the firewire insert but not the inputs and outputs on the MULTIMIX Untill the drivers are installed and configuration settings are correct. XP isn't sure what the firewire port is attached to. The drivers will give xp the info it needs to route all your input/output channels. I dont use sequencing hardware so i can't help there. My firewire 16 will drop out from time to time for about 30 seconds but then it comes back on line buy itself without having to boot. More of a minor inconvenience than anything else. Im not sure yet what that problem is. Try finding the correct drivers at alesis.com.

Good luck
