this may be a dumb question, but....my band rents a small rehearsal studio and i'm wanting to take my computer to record some tracks there...i was wondering if it would be detrimental to my computer to have it exposed to all of the speakers in the same room.

that's not a dumb question at all. A speaker is a big magnet, and we all know magnets screw with computers and monitors, But I'd think that as long as your computer is positioned far enough away from the speakers it should be fine. If you can, you're going to want to put the computer in a different room though, so essentially you'll have a "live" room where the music is played, and a control room where it is recorded and mixed in... this is easier said than done though. As long as the speakers are far enough away from the computer you should be fine though, my studio has 2 10" pa speakers in it, a 12" floor monitor, and my half stack as well as two computers an I've not ran into any problems yet.

Your PC should be just fine as long as you don't set it on top of any speaker's or the like. As Loki said, you just need to take car in where you place ti and all should be well. I hae had some very loud playing in this room and it has no effect at all on my PC. And I know many people who bring their laptop's to record live in bar's so they can take some abuse.

cool, thanks so much! the place we're renting is only one room, so i'll just put it on the opposite side of the room, and take it home with me directly after. thanks again!
