Okay, so this is what i do. i duplicate the vocal track and pan one left, and the other right.. it just seems to be more 'in your face' instead of a stereo track.
my question is.. is there a plug in that can do this without me converting the vocal track??

Jan 25, 2007 07:45 am I've just done this myself. Cubase allows you to setup a stereo track, fire in the mono vocal then you can use the stereo panner (accessible via the panning leveler) at the top of the channel, allowing you to pan left / right at the same time.
To get round your current problem, when you double track, if you half the volume on BOTH tracks (so the sum of the 2 volumes is the same) it should be what you're looking for....also, remember, by panning left and right, you are most likely finding a "space" in the mix for this vocal to come thru, where perhaps, before, it didn't cut thru...just a thought!
Good luck anyways.
Coco.
P.S. Not sure of the plugin that could do this...

Jan 25, 2007 12:54 pm so, your vocal is currently in mono, or stereo? If it's mono, why not just copy the track, put in another track and then pan the tracks individually left and right?

Or better yet. Have the singer actually sing it twice trying to immitate the first take (the closer the better). Then pan those two, as long as it is very close the little nuances will make it sound full and fantastic. Or if leaving the main Vox centered, turn down the second take a tad so it just compliments to lead vocal.
