I was wondering, I need someth to boos my signal for recording, and I cant decide whether to buy a simple for channel behringer mixer or a cheap preamp. In my case I found the mixer really least expensive and much more useful. I would like to know if a cheap preamp is really better than a mixer.

Jan 01, 2003 09:58 am The new UB series of Behringer mixers have very nice preamps, I would go with one of those personally if you need an all-purpose type preamp, if you are looking for something specifically for guitar or specifically for vocals or something like that then I may consider getting a dedicated pre. But, like I said, if you just need a generally purpose pre, go the a UB series mixer.

Jan 01, 2003 10:38 am Does the line ins on this mixer have a preamp whitin too? or just the XLR?
Jan 01, 2003 12:20 pm The line ins are preamped, not with the same "IMP" pres that the mic jacks have (I don't think) but they are preamped...I will look at my UB1622FX-Pro mixer's manual and see if I can get a better answer for ya on the specifics for the line in jacks...
Jan 01, 2003 03:52 pm The XLR's have the MIP preamps, the line ins are just preamped by the channel strip itself on the UB series mixers.

Jan 01, 2003 04:04 pm I believe that the MX series also have the same set of preamps that the UB series. If you take a look at the features in the mx602 or mx802 it says that they have invisible mic preamps.
Jan 01, 2003 04:42 pm Yes, but they have been upgraded and refined for the UB series...or so they have been saying, and my 1622 sounds a bit brighter than my old 802a.

Jan 01, 2003 05:36 pm Yes, the UB serie's now has the same Pre-amp's that my bigger Behringer desk has. The MX serie's still has very good pre's, and I believe the newer incarnation's will all have the same.
