Got a problem with one of my amps. Fender Rocpro 1000. It has a large sounding HUM. Now could this be a tansistor that has broken down? the earthing on the elec's is good throughout the house so i know it's not an elec supply issue. Cheers then

Dec 25, 2006 07:32 am Does the amp hum without anything plugged into it?Sometimes the lighting ring wires and dimmer switches can cause this.

Dec 26, 2006 11:02 am Could be the input jack. That's happened more than once.
The wiring / soldering goes a little south, or the retention nut/ring thing gets loose, or corrosion sets in.
Clean up all the parts of the input jacks (actually, all the jacks wouldn't hurt) and re-flow the solder joints.
Hey Kaos, how's the studio going? mine's getting close.

Dec 26, 2006 02:58 pm Thanks for the replies. Hujambo - yep it hums without a thing, but it's on it's on supply spur, all things are seperate here in frznce due to the norms...
hey pjk- I'll open up and have a look cheers for that. Well it's not really advanced that much due to work restricting the time. But The room is sounding great for drums, a real live room with 11ft ceilings, hard floor, and the walls are heavilly insulated with dense poyurethane foam and sheetrock. I now have to treat the room a little with base traps and some sound absorbtion panels as I am getting some fluttery type verb. but have been able to combat this with movable 4ft x 4ft panels - must say a quick thanks to dB for the article on those. And as for ever I am looking to upgrade certain pieces on the equipment ;-)
on another note, now that i have got the hang of the ESI 1010, and am vry happy with it, do you think it would be possible to twin another to give 16 inputs? - just thinking......

Dec 27, 2006 08:28 am Great to hear it's coming along, mine's been on hold for about 6 months, but i'm getting back to it now.
I'm jealous of your live room, mine's not turning out near that nice. Hopefully nice enough, though, with treatment like you're doing.
I think you can double up those cards, I believe Noize2u has mentioned that before, and I may have read it somewhere as well.
That's not a bad idea, really, as there's no way to get more inputs into the thing, like a ADAT in, or such, just the spdif.

Dec 27, 2006 06:03 pm Although the room is only 15ft x 15ft I would love to record a really live session as that type of sound to me is the best. Yeah i know it all depends on the type of music but I just find too much music nowadays has lost the capture of the spontenaety of a band. Hence the reason to maybe twin the cards together.
keep at it with your studio you know you'll get there in the end - even if I don't believe I ever will!!!!

Dec 27, 2006 06:09 pm HA, that's the truth. I'll get there, just got to keep at it.
One thing I've noticed in building, the closer I get to finished, the smaller the room seems. ugh, oh well, it's better than a garage. =)
