I'm looking for a way to get a good sound for my electric guitar (I don't own an amp, but I'm just recording so a plugin will do). I'd like something along the lines of The Arcade Fire, a kind of crunchy thin sound. Any ideas? I'm using Adobe Audition, but the distortion effect isn't cutting it.

Depending on if you want freebies or not. Well I guess everyone want freebies but I really like GuitarRig2 which is not free but sounds great.

Oh I had one before I reinstalled my OS, I forgot what it was called but it had a lot of cool things in it, for free, various stomp boxes and amps... cpu hog but hey. I'll look for it.
