i would like to get input on the Best/userfriendly/(free if possable) program to create rock/alternative drum loops or complete scores.
i need to be able to create them, SAVE them and then add them to a track in cool edit pro.

Oct 12, 2006 09:16 pm Probably the best free drum machine out there...not sure how it works on windows but there's an installer... but what losers still use Windows for audio ooohh... wait... :)

On linux JACK is fairly critical to it's integration... and JACK is still experimental for windows.

Oct 13, 2006 10:06 am When you can stretch to it financially, try Groove Agent 2 from Steinberg. I've never looked back.
It does all the work (no programming involved). You set the tempo, the style, the time signature, the drum kit, and let it play. You can add fills, crash hits, and go to half-tempo at the click of a mouse.
If you need Jeff Porcaro, he's in there. If you need Bonzo, he's in there. If you need Gene Krupa, well, he's in there......

I think dB-Wan tested another similar program - Jamstix (????)> I think it plays dynamically along to your playing.....dB-Wan would know more. It was pretty cheap as I remember.

Oct 13, 2006 02:21 pm DrumCore as well is another I use when I need pre done quick drum parts. Not free but the kits are absolutely killer, as are the loops and the midi patterns provided if you dont want to program you own parts.

Oct 16, 2006 10:18 pm Yeh, but zek your avatar has been the grimace for a long time now. I get lost everytime a long time member changes their avatar.
Its funny how you get used to things like that and dont even notice that you have become that way. I usually dont even read the names as most of us have had the same avatar for so long. And worst of it is I rarely even look directly at the avatar, just catch it out the corner of my eye and I know who it is. Thats why I didn't even think that post was dB for a moment as the avatar was differant.
