Ok when i record my voice over the beat, and then i play my voice back i can only hear my voice comin out of the LEFT speaker. Why is that? what do i have to do to hear my voice coming out of both the left and the right speakers?

A few more details would help. What software are you using, your settings.... stuff like that. Details about your specific setup?

It's probably because your record setting is set to stereo, and you're only recording in mono (which is normal). Set your record input to be left channel only and you should be fine.

yeah i think coolo is right, when you record are you seein' your voice on just one of two 'sides' in the waveform with the other one just a flat line? also try just panning it to center.

First, it sounds like you might be using ASIO interface drivers, which work as stereo pairs (can't record only 1 signal).

Second, you may have the tracking software set up to record a stereo track, instead of two mono tracks. If it's recording a stereo track, then only the left half will have signal. Played back, left only. There should be a setting for create two mono tracks, instead of stereo. After tracking, delete the second, empty track.

This can be set like that in N-track, so I'm guessing you prob will be able to as well.

Yes indeed you can record mono with ASIO, I do it all the time. You simply set up a mono track and use only one input.

ntrack may not be able to use them as mono inputs. I'm not sure on that one though. But I always record vocals and such to mono tracks and dont have any trouble recording to a single track at all.

The software i am using is MAGIX 2006 and the set up i have is my mixer is hooked into my soundcard and my mic is plugged into the mixer.

Also when i record i see my voice on only 1 line like u guys were saying. And the other line is just straight. So i should change the recording preferances to MONO?

yeah, it should be in your input select on the channel in your recording software....should read "input 1 Left, input 2 Right, 1+2 Stereo, input 3 Left, input 4 right, input 3+4 Stereo" etc....just pick the left input and you'll get the mono track.
