Hi. Im a fairly new member just putting together some bits and bobs for a fairly basic home recording set up. (acid 2.0, behringer 10 track fx desk, shure sm58 and thats about it!)

Just working at the moment for a demo mix for one of my bands tunes, and I'd love some opinions on any ways i could possibly improve it. To me it sounds fairly similar to what i want to do with it, but I'm looking at making the bass a bit more prominent, turning up the drums, turning down the 'baa baa' backing vocals and maybe double tracking the chorus vocal parts..? In fact I'm really just intrigued as to what some of you more experienced members would do with it! Hope this is enough info, i'm still quite new to this!

The tune is called GOTTA GO FASTER, and the rough version is on www.myspace.com/calvoon

Any opinions you have would be greatly appreciated, I just want to improve what I'm doing and it makes excellent reading at work!

Thanks in advance.

You have pretty much hit the nail on the head in your thread. i would certainly bring the bass up togeher with fattening the drum sound as they are lacking a bit for me.

Compared to the rest the vocals do seem a little bit too much in your face but maybe that's what you are looking for. Perhaps reduce a little on the higher end freq's as well?

Liked it a lot !!!!!

cheers then

Cheers for your input KAOS!!

Yeah I'm gonna look at getting the bass up there and making the whole thing less tinny. Ad you're right about the vocals, they seem a bit much. Will have a fiddle on with the levels and EQ.

I'd love everything to just sit right first time (ha ha)

But I'll get there!

Thanks again for your comments!

Yep, gotta agree as well. The bass and drums could both use a good dose of compresion to get them leveled and punchier. It would surely bring them to life. Along with some EQ boosting in their respective ranges.

The guitars as well are very bright, tiny as you call it. They could definately use some lower mid and botom in the EQ range. It may be how you are recording them as well that is giving the crsip bright sounds.

The vocals are as stated way to present in the mix. And as well are very mid heavy. Some slight reverb and EQ in the lower ranges will help them out as well.
