i just asked about vocals mic and now i thought i would ask about a vocal processor. should i run the mic through a vocal processor then to the firepod. and if i should whats a good but not to highly priced vocal processor. and same with guitars should i run my guitar mic through a Behringer EX3200 Ultrafex Pro Enhancer to get more of a stero image and better high freq. or is there a better processor.

All I do is compress it and do the rest of the processing via software in the multitracking app.

well, i'm not inclined to advise on the vocal processor, as i've not used any.

but the guitar signal is a large area. If you're very sure of your guitar sound, and are totally happy with it, then you can record the processed signal. But you won't be able to change the sound much after it's done.

Also, matters of guitar processing is very subject to individual taste. You like punk style, i may like country style. The variables are numerous and broad.

That aside, I'd think that the basic sound of a guitar can be created with a processor / amp, but other processing (stereo expanding, reverb, compression (if needed), EQ) is well done in the computer. There's a lot of high quality plugs (some free) that can do this step for you, and it's reversible. If you apply them in the processor, you're stuck with them.

That said =), I use a Boss GT6, that I'm quite happy with. There's a GT8 now that's much improved, but I haven't been able to justify the $$$, so I'm sticking with the GT6. Others here use the POD line with great results, while others use the VAMP line with great results.

I think it's mostly a matter of testing out your equipment, run expirements, and trial and error. Plus, it gets your recording chops up, testing out recording guitars =).

if ya must, hands down, best bang-for-the-buck is the ART VLA prochannel...it's got eq, compression and tOOb power this thing has a reputation much like the SM57...rock solid and cheap. don't even waste your time with the digital processors with reverb and chorus and what not.
