Isolation transformer

Ok this is weird but I think I'd like to try a technique I saw in of all places, at work. We were testing this piece of equipment for EMI/RFI emissions last week and we were having trouble with line noise. The noise on the AC distribution system was just too close to the limits of the standards we were testing to. So somebody from our I&C shop brought up an isolation transformer and what do you know, it worked and we were in business. So I got to thinking, can I use this in my studio to get rid of hum when recording guitars? Let me know what you guys think. Also if anybody has done anything like this let me know what you used. thanks.

bbbitter, an iso transformer will work. But in all honesty you will be miles ahead to get yourself a power conditioner. Furman has some good ones, and even one under $100.00. I just bought a new pair as my old custom made single unit is now loosing its grip on reality, and power control.

Some have filtering ability and some of the cheaper models dont. You will want to check into that.

I have three. They are ok but the filtering is not as good as I want it to be.

Well then Maybe adding in an ISO transformer might help you out then. It cant hurt anything as it only acts as a filter for the voltage line.
