...cause I just picked up a real Hammond!!! :)
As much as I love that synth, I just needed the real thing. My music really was lacking the soul of the real, gritty hammond. I picked up a Hammond T-series organ at an estate sale for $100!
It's a transistor organ but with tonewheels, spring reverb, built in chorus, and leslie! Sounds mighty fine too! It's not a B3, thats for sure but man... it'll do the trick! With a little cleaning up and some mods to get the key click back, it's gonna sounds fantastic!!
The best part, my fiancee was actaully cool with me bringing home a 300lb organ! I guess I should bring my vintage full stack Ampeg bass amp back from my parents house BEFORE we get married. ;) After that happens, I doubt I can get away with anything ;)
Just wanted to share the news:)
Cheers! -Al

Aug 11, 2006 06:24 am Yeah, it is quite the deal. It needs a little work to the draw bars and some cleaning but nothing major. I'm so anxious to pick it up tonight with a few buddies of mine (it's 300 lbs, can't move it myself!). You can bet what I'll be doing all day tomorrow...
...annoying the piss out of the neighbors ;)
Aug 11, 2006 06:27 am Well, I remember once I got oan old Moog Taurus pedal for FREE, it worked but it was noisy, so I took it in to get cleaned and rewired and stuff...$275 later I had an awesome Moog...little things can add up!
Sounds like a great deal tho.
Aug 11, 2006 06:29 am True dB, true. But still, you got a Moog Taurus pedal for $275 then. Not a bad deal if you ask me.
Aug 11, 2006 06:30 am True, I later sold it to a Geddy Lee wanna be for $550 :-)
Still kicking myself in the *** for that one...

Haha... How much of a wanna be was he? Did he keep his balls in a vice so he could sing like Geddy Lee? ;)

Aug 12, 2006 01:47 am Nice. I found a little organ I may be buying soon it's no hammond, but it's pretty to look at. I dunno how it sounds.
Aug 12, 2006 12:24 pm Just an update:
Well, myself and a co-worker moved the organ last night with the aid of his trailer, some straps, and some piano dollies I rented (worth thier weight in gold!). Got the organ home okay and fired it up. Sounds great! Only, some point in the move something happened and now the motor is loud. Not sure what happened, but I'm sure its fixable. Either way, it sounds great and it's probably pissing off the neighbors cause this thing can really wail. The built in leslie is surprisingly really nice sounding... and loud. Hell, I fianee actaully really likes the Hammond as well. She wants to play on it as much as I do! I can't wait to re-record some of my tracks with this baby. I'll definnitly be posting some tracks when I do. Man, gotta love Craigslist for this find.
Cheers! -Al
