hey guys, I'm about to order the ART DMPA preamp, just wondering what would be the best way to set it up when I get it. I have the delta 1010, and an Alto L-16 mixer..... and I dont have much experience with preamps yet heh so any help would be amazing.

Hey Alex,

I'm gonna throw out a 'maybe' here, in saying that are you sure the ART preamp will be better than the Alto preamps.

I'm not saying it's not, but I'd make sure it's an upgrade before I put down $$$ on them. In honesty, the ART may be far superior, I don't know, and wouldn't want to see you put out cash, and not see much of an improvement.

Anyway, the preamp will accept the mic cord, and have an output. Plug the output of the preamp into one of the inputs on the 1010. The ART would take the place of the ALTO mixer preamps.

hey, have seen some ALTO mixers down here.....i couldnt test it in the store cause it was more of a car audio store, not really a studio recording store.....are the preamps on them any good? and how would they compare to behringer's pre?

I believe the mixer in question is actually a powered mixer for live applications. So the ART may be an improvement really.

ya so I guess I should just take the mixer out of the chain, and have it go mic>preamp>delta1010? or would it make a difference if I had it going through the inserts of the Alto? ...but ya the mixer was about $500 ca when i bought it, and that covered the 8 channel preamps, eq, dfx, and other features. The ART is about a $100 less and is solely just 2 preamps, so it SHOULD be a big improvement -fingers crossed-

The ART will be a good improvement over the channels coming out of the Alto. And yes indeed, just shoot direct through the pre and into the 1010. That will give you the cleanest signal path.

alright thanks guys! oh and before I order the DMPA, would anyone have any recommendations for maybe a better 2-Channel preamp, it has got some pretty good reviews at musiciansfriend, but I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice

Any that I can think of in your price range are mono type units.

Here is another bit on it from zZounds, www.homerecordingconnecti...ne+Preamplifier

The others I would probably point you too would be a bit higher in price as well.
