Time for new monitors.

Want near field, only need passive as i have a decent amp. In my price range i have found the 2 most likely candidates.

The Alesis Monitor One MKII's or the Behringer Truth B2031p's?

Before i dish out for either one of these, has anyone had any experience of either or both of these models to give me an idea of which are more preferable. Also, if anyone knows any other monitors around the same price which are near field and passive that i have missed which are worth having a look at, then please let me know.

Thanks guys

chris.

I don't like Alesis monitors at all, I like Alesis gear, but their monitors have never impressed me, so based on my bias, I'd say the Behringers.

What is the price range you are looking to stay in?

Of those 2 choices though, I agree the truths are a bit better.

price range is around £100-150 (which i think is about $250-300, but im not sure)

im obviously willing to go a little over if it is defiantly worth it.

i used to have a friend who had a pair of Alesis active monitors and the highs were screechingly high. They literally hurt my ears. I would definitely stay away from the Alesis, but I've never heard any Behringer monitors before.

Yeah, exactly, Alesis highs are VERY harsh...the original monitors ones were the worst...a good buddy of myself and Noize2u had those damn things, I'd sooner recommend home stereo speakers.

In all fairness tho, I have heard the newer ones are better.

For reference for people these are the monitors in question:

Yeah, the moniter one MK II are much better then the older versions. But peeps really dug the older ones for the lower bottom end. I couldn't stand the high end though as dB stated. Too screechy and you ended up with a mix that was horribly lacking in the high end as they were far too bright for mixing.

The Behringers give a much better picture in that respect and have a good bottom end even though their spec claims only to go down to about 55hz. Like my KRK's I credit the front porting for allowing a better bass picture then the Alesis moniters.
