Im running Protools LE 5.2 on a Digi 001 on xp. But when i play any midi it comes out trough the PC speakers and not the outputs of the digi. Also it records to protools but does not come up when i perform a mixdown. Is there a special driver or something?

I am not a protools person, but I would suggest you check your MIDI preferences in PT and make sure it's assigned to the correct routing...

I'm actually not sure PT LE 5.2 had midi implemented yet. Are you actually loading the midi file into PT or is it playing direct from windows? As well, if you can be more specific about what your midi is playing through. IS it software synth, hardware etc. ?

It is plugged into the digi 001 so i thought with all the drivers and everything installed it should play through protools. But as you said it seems to be playing through windows. All i am using is a basic Midi controller keyboard. The version is PT le 5.3 not 5.2 as i previously said. Dont know if thats any help or not. Hope it is

I'm not a pro-tools guy either, but most software has a midi options tab where you have to tell it what inputs and outputs you are using. Make sure your digi is selected there, as most systems default to the system midi driver, which will play off your soundcard instead of the digi.

OK, the digi001 didi have midi i/o ports on it and 5.3 was I believe midi capable.

How are you choosing a synth to play? Is it assigning a track for the midi as well as an audio track for the synth.

What you need is to be able to load a synth into PT Le itself to be able to assign it to use the digi001 outputs. You can manage to find a way to send the windows synth to the digi as well I believe by choosing the digi as the audio output for windows. But then all your sounds will play through the digi as well.

Have a look and see if there are any software synth choices in your PT software. It may be apable of using VSTi synths but I'm not sure of that version as it is no longer supported on their site. Since Avid bought them they have really let things go in my opinion.
