VST plugin through midi controller Issue ???

hello. i posted a similar question in the home recording forum, sorry for the redundancy... but i'm going mad.

I'm having trouble getting response from my midi-controller when i use my 'kontakt player - piano' plugin. i've tried it in various programs, it opens .. i can loud the sounds .. but i am only able to click on the notes with my mouse rather than just play through the controller. anyone know whats going on here? the controller works fine in the instrument programs by the way. thanks!
