wow, that's pretty ridiculous. I wonder if you could be prosecuted in germany for a website that's run on servers located in the US if the poster is from Germany. That would be even more ridiculous. Of course they couldn't actually arrest you or make you pay any fines unless you went to germany, but what a headache!

I just find it interesting that owners of web content are not considered "journalists" and are not able to use journalistic laws to protect their sources identities and such things, but increasingly web content owners are able to be held liable for that same content...typically it's mostly targetting bloggers but increasingly it's forum owners as well.

It will be interesting to see how these laws develop over the coming years.
