Yes it would be. Have you looked at any others of the same size. Behringer makes a comparable mixer for much less money. But the Mackie is a great little unit as well.

Thanks for reply - actually back here where I live, a Behringer in the outlet store costs more than a Mackie on internet :) - but I am considering that brand too.

Just curious, but where do you live? Behringer is usually the cheaper of the two choices around the globe.

Romania - is not the problem with the gear itself, just the value for transportation, customs duties, etc. The relative difference between Mackie and Behringer is the same also here... but a different scale...

I see. Most places it is mackie that is far above Behringer in price. That is why so many of us have turned to their products.

But Mackie is definately a good product. The one you are looking at would surely do most things you will need to in a home studio.

An welcome to HRC by the way.

Its a very nice mixer. It has enough effects to keep you busy for a while just experimenting. Has a nice clear sound without using the effects, Phantom 48v power and a onboard eq. I've been using this unit for about 2 years now and can't say anything bad about it..except I need more inputs..:)

Noize2u: Thanks for welcoming me ;) it's a great website.

EmSee: this is very good - my intention is to have a starting mixer, just to study and learn basics - I am sure I could use this one for submixing in the future - my intention is to go eventualy for a PCI interface (MOTU, or something similar).

zymotic, indeed you will be able to keep it around for submixing. I still have a couple smaller mixers just for that purpose. My son now uses an older 16 channel I used as a sub mixer when I had a smaller desk. Now with a 32 x 8 I dont really use it much any more, but it is nice to have in an emergency.

Gald you are enjoying the site.
