the fact that my tweeter domes on my monitors are pushed in because they're uber sensitive affect the sound at all?

Apr 16, 2006 01:49 pm It wont directly effect the tone of the tweeter, but it will effect the directionality of them. If they are near fields you may not get the absolute perfect dispersment from them. But if they are regular speakers, then it wont be nearly as critical.

Apr 17, 2006 01:48 am yeah they are nearfields, M-Audio Studiophile Dx4. Turns out the little buggers are far more sensitive than I though.

CONE POKER!
Anyway, I would pop in something to listen to that you are exteremely familier with and give em a shot. I am guessing you can replace them fairly easily, and being they are a smaller speaker set up they should not be too expensive. I would hope M-Audio would sell the tweeter as a spare part.
Be lucky you dont have mine. $210.00 per tweeter.

Apr 19, 2006 10:24 am you could use a pin, pushed slightly into the dome, to pop it back out. Or you could use a plastic pop bottle, maybe like a suction device to pull the cone back out. I suppose a vacuum tube on a vacuum could work as well.
heh, cone poker.

Apr 19, 2006 02:00 pm WYD Yeah... that's how one of mine got poked (no clue as to the second one... curious friend g/f?) I was pushing on th woofer to see it move, and decided to try the tweeter... bad mistake.
I tried the pin to no avail... I'm frightened at the thought of a vacum...
