HELLO, I NEED SOFTWARE THAT IS EASY TO USE AND IS ABLE TO RECORD A SAMPLE FROM MY RECORD COLLECTION.
I HAVE TURNTABLES HOOKED UP TO MY COMPUTER VIA A M-AUDIO MOBILE PRE USB.(ABLETON LIVE "LITE" CAME WITH IT BUT I AM HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH IT)
1. I WOULD THEN LIKE TO TRANSFER THAT SAMPLE TO MY FRUITY LOOPS PROGRAM AND PRODUCE A MUSICAL COMPOSITION.
2. THE SOFTWARE MUST BE ABLE TO CONVERT WMA'S AND MP3'S SO FRUITY LOOPS CAN READ THEM.
I HEAR SONAR 5 IS GOOD BUT COMPLICATED. CAN ANYONE SUGGEST THE PERFECT SOFTWARE FOR ME? (KEEPING IN MIND I AM VERY RECORDING ILLETARATE)

Welcome to HRC.

You might want to try another program from the same company that makes Sonar. Cakewalk makes an application that rivals or exceeds Ableton Live. Definately exceeds Live Lite.

Have a look here. www.cakewalk.com/Products/Project5/default.asp

I use both Sonar 5 PE and Project 5 version 2. Although Project 5 will not import WMA or mp3. That is only done in the higher end products such as Sonar. But there are sone freeware converters out there that will take you mp3 or WMA and convert them into .wav files.

Have a look here, some free and some cheap ones. www.google.com/search?q=m...:en-US:official

You might want to have a look at Project 5 if you are using Fruity, P5 is much deeper and will give you many more options.

Oh and by the way. Can you unlock your caps lock. On the internet that is considered yelling or a sign of anger. Your first post on a forum should be a bit more friendly.

Sorry bout the caps lock.
Thanks for the reply, but if sonar did the conversions with in itself why would I need to get the freeware?

Sonar isn't quite built for samples, beat-making and loops like Project is. And, Project may be better for you than FL to make samples / beats / loops.

Sonar is more built for full-out audio/midi productions. More robust, and probably more $$$.

So if you comfortable with FL, then get one of the free converters, and convert the MP3 or WMA over to wav file.

Project may be able to record directly into itself, though I'm not sure. I know the high end FL Studio will record, but I don't know what you have. The lesser versions don't.

Sonar has a loop construction kit (if I recall correctly), full MIDI implementation, virtual instruments and full support for the use of loops, placing, time stretching, repeating and so on...while I would agree P5 is the bomb, Sonar is, as well, fully capable.

That said, I am not much of a loop user, so perhaps it is missing something a poweruser of loops would see more than me...

You wouldnt need the freeware app if you do go with Sonar. I was looking at the fact it might be more money then you want to spend for something like that. But indeed, it is a huge tool and value wise it is one of the top.

It really isnt that deep to learn to use either. They have tutorials built right into it and the help files are some of the best out there.
