OK, Ready for spring!

Alrighty then, last night I sat down with beer in hand, some cardboard, electrical tape, scissors and a guitar strap...made a nice little pocket on my guitar strap that my lil' smokie amp slides right in...I'm all ready for sitting on my patio or walking around my yard pickin and grinnin...put the smokie in the pocket, plug into the ol' Variax and off I go.

Now I just need to figure out where to mount the beer can holder, cuz I am not gonna wear one of those beer-bong helmets...

oh heck, dB, you're half way there with the cardboard and black tape. though the handy-man's secret weapon would have been better =).

man, I bet my wife would just be turned on by that sight...

By the way, the cardboard do-hicky is all balck thanks to the tape, so it's not even really visible, but it's audible!

It would been better white trash if you had just stapled an old milk carton onto the strap...

Im pumped for spring...I have grilled out 3-4 times already, probably will tonight...

Actually, stapling on a cigarette pack to fit my cigarette pack amp would be the ultimate white trash way to do it...but it'd have to be a generic brand smoke...

Awesome Deebs ! Jammin' outside is nice, for sure . I'm SO ready for spring ! I had ma first kayaing in a coupl'a days ago . Took the day off of work, and paddled my fat-#%& around the lake for a few hours, jammin' some mp3s and just diggin' the sights . I had the whole lake to myself, with exception of the squadrons of Canadian geese that are starting to return from their migration . There was a moment when I realized that if tipped, the 'rule of 50' would apply... water temp 50 degrees, 50 yards from shore = y'a got a 50% chance of making it . Ahhh... needed that !... back to winter-ish this weekend, though .

you guys are so lucky. all that happened down here is suddenly one day it was 85 and more humid.

next thing that will happen is the humidity will become steady and the temp will ramp up.

we have no spring.

unless you consider the winter spring, but it is hard to see it that way.

Oh, forty, spring is so cool, trees start budding, grass greens up, neighbors come out for beers together, kids start playing outside, bikes up and down the street, I can sit in the sun on my patio with a beer and just pick away the day....ah...can't wait.

you and your 'springtime,' db.

in all seriousness, northerners who complain about snow and winter should realize: winter's the price of springtime.

hittin near 60 here today, snows mostly gone, been sitting on the porch, and watching the kids on bikes, like you said.

I'm loving it, though it's not quite warm enough to take the 12 string outside yet. I have one of those smokys too, I'll have to get it out of the garage this spring =).

I don't think that I would survive and entire year in Minne dB. I spent 4 years in Iowa and I came back with a dire hatred of northern winters. But yes, it does make that first few nice days of spring that much better. It's like a festival atmosphere in the north once winter starts to lift.

Just curious, how much did you guys pay for your Little Smokies? They're selling at a shop here for about $35. I'm very tempted to pick one up. Sounds like it'd make a pretty cool little belt-clip amp.

I can just see Deebs strolling down the street, Washburn slung low, playing Smoke On the Water next to the daughter on the bike hehehehe

I got it real cheap from a friend that owns a music store...but I think regular price there is around 25-29...the strap with the pocket for it is about $40, I made it for the price of some tape and a beer...

hee hee, i fixed a guys vibrolux reverb (an old closet classic) and replaced the tubes, and he gave me the smokey.

I was trying the 'save up your cig packs' thing, but the fire kinda took the wind out of my sails.

How is the smokey cig pack campaign going?

Minnesota winters are kid stuff! Try a winter in the Great White north! When I was a kid I had to walk to school in my bare feet in -40 degree weather. hahaha.

Actually, I'm in Vancouver now and we hardly even get snow. Rain on the other hand, well I have to use a periscope to get to work.

I am with db on the snow and cold topic...Its THE MOST annoying thing local people can have come out of their mouth...

The thing that baffles me most about local culture, is the fact of, when there is a big snowfall...it tops the local TV news and papers...

Maybe I think to logically but I could see leading the news off with the snowfall if we lived in Arizona or Mexico....

But in Minnesota its ALWAYS the top story whenever we get snow...I just dont get it...

If anything they should do the REAL news then say "Oh by the way, we got 3 feet of snow today."

here in North MI they frequently lead with snow, but I think that's so they can draw the southerners up for snowmobiling, skiing, and spending $$$.

I gotta agree with dB and Jason, I shrug my shoulders and tell em to move outa the state if they cant cope. I have allready gone to work in shorts and sandles this spring just to rub it in to those who cringe. It hits 45 here and I'm more then comfortable, its actually balmy.

The most annoying thing about winter here is the friggin putz drivers slowing down to about 3 MPH when the snow gets a half inch deep. Jeez I wanna get outa my car and bash in a window or two.

OK, I'm better now. :-)

dB that sounds like a good idea. I think I got a couple old straps laying around to modify for that purpose. Although my Pignose sounds much better its not as portable as the smokey.

I'm sure everyone in the 'Northern Sector' has something like this refering to their state... some of this can be relative, some is hyperbole... the part about the Lions is too true though . heh

It's going to be almost 70F tomorrow around here, which is just slightly too cold for swimming as far as I'm concerned, but perfect for chillin' in a kayak, fishin' and knockin' back a few cold-ones . Alas, it is sometimes necessary to sacrifice a day trapped in an office to achieve the enlightenment that only playing in the sun on a Tuesday afternoon can achieve... but I think I'll be able to bare that burden . Money is nice, but... well money IS nice... STILL y'a got'ta live a life that lends life to your life . It makes the food taste better, the music sound sweeter, and everything else just a little more nicer . Oh, and have you gentleman noticed that the scenery getting nicer as the days get warmer ?

I invite all those that have not selfishly disposed of an entire day in 'way too long', to join me in this Take-Off-Tuesday . The requirements are simple... First, you must deserve it... no professional slackers are allowed . Secondly, you must indulge in a favorite-passtime that has no relation to work whatsoever, like playing music, or spending time with your children, or wife, or mistress; reading a book, drinking, etc... it is of no consequence as to where or how you indulge, as long as it is not at work . Thirdly, you must NOT feel guilty about it, on any level . I understand that some of you may think of me as eval by devising such a frivilous suggestion in this thread, yet those of you who have that very thought pass through your mind are the ones that need this the most, rest assured that by the 3rd or 4th beer, you will 'hate me no more' . In addition to not feeling any guilt, it is imperative that you not take any flack from anyone reguarding your blatant 'disreguard of all that is mundane in your life for one day', as anything less than exemplary behavior .

Spring is here, and you are invited .

Edit : 'No', I have never seen anyone around here licking flagpoles at 0º !

Deebs, I am going to have to snatch your idea and bring the guitar gear outside today...I know you and Noize are ready for a day like today as well...

Its too damn nice out...

The only thing that would make it perfect was if it were a Friday (for me atleast)...

Man, I can't wait until Rochester (NY) gets consistantly warm. I love the winter (lots of beautiful snow and awesome skiing), but I too am anxious to sit out on my porch with a homebrew and my acousitc.

I did however fire up the BBQ grill as soon as it stopped snowing. I've been grilling everything I can get my hands on. My favorite so far this year: Grilled Pizza. Simply amazing, quick, and easy. Goes fantasic with my latest homebrew; an english pale ale. :)
