A little less than conventional...

I'm recording my friends band. Pretty sweet deal. I get $100 up front and a dollar for every CD they sell. Anyway, we were doing drums yesterday. I just couldn't get the sound I wanted. Long story short I ended up putting my Fender Bassman between my mixer and my 4-track. It ended up sounding great. A little food for thought if anyone out there has a tube amp...

boy, those fender bassmans come up in more situations that have nothing to do with a bass than any other single component I have ever heard... :-)

Thanks for the tip!

Well, we all know, or most of us, the BassMan has one of the nicest tube circuit's in the Fender line. It is clean and depenable. The circuit was built to be very warm yet powerfull. I know about 30 guitar player's that have had them hotrodded because they like that tone. I played through one in the early seventy's when my TwinReverb was in the shop. I ended up buying it and having it fixed up a bit for guitar use. I know a guy who had a pair built to match so he could use them on his Hammond B3 and it wailed.

And like I always say, sometime's the non conventional thing's are what ending up sounding the best. Break some more rule's along the way, and keep letting us know how it work's out.

I might be wrong, but I think george also uses a bassman in his guitar rig...

My guitarist uses one... his is nicer than mine. We're working on our 2nd CD now by the way. I'll post samples and stuff when they're ready.

Ya know, I think Mark from the Roseville MGR still has a hotrodded one. I Still have that Canadian made thing I got from him in my closet, I should bring that down to Savage Audio and let him bring it back to life. I think the model name is "Bass Master Mark II". I know it was really warm tone wise, it just neede some TLC.
