I just ordered the following to begin my home studio and have some questions:

2 Behringer XM8500 Microphone
2 20 Foot Ernie Ball XLR Microphone Cable 20 Foot
1 Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer

I read allot of reviews on these products and I am happy with what I bought (I have received them in the mail yet but happy they are on the way). I now need a cable to go from the mixer to my computer. Does anyone here own one of these mixers? Do I just need a stereo left/right jacks to plug into the mixer going to a 1/8 jack into my computer? SHould the 1/8 jack be stereo or mono? I was not sure what to but so I did not order it as I figured I could p/u one at guitar center. Anyone know?

Also, will this mixer work as a preamp? Anything else I will need?

The specs of your mixer state :

2 mono channels with IMPs inserts and phantom power
2 stereo channels
Post-fader aux send
Stereo aux return
3-band EQs on all channels

So, yeah... it has two "Invisible Mic Preamps" .

As far as the cable is concerned, you may have a hard time finding a dual-mono 1/4"-> 1/8" sterio... maybe not, but it took me a while . Anyway, if you're talking about sending the signal to your onboard soundcard, you may want to shop around for something that will actually let you record without giving you the headaches of drop-outs, and poor sound quality . The 'ol AC97s just don't cut it for recording .

Hosa makes just such a cord. It is an 1/8" male to TRS to 2 1/4" male TS jacks.

If you cant find that one simply go with the 1/4" TRS to 2 1/4" TS such as found on most insert cables and then use a 1/4" female TRS to 1/8" male TRS converter.
