AA 2.0 recording question

Hi, I just started using Adobe Audition 2.0 and I'm intending to use it to record with two mics. The problem I'm encountering is that I can't get AA to use my USB mic as an input device as it is stuck on my Creative ASIO hardware inputs... which I have no idea how to use. In the end I need to be able to use both the USB mic and the mic input from the card... Help?

Well one main problem you are going to run into is the fact that ASIO by nature will not allow more then one device to be used. Unless of course they are compatable from the same manufacturer. As in MOTU units which can be chained together. I am not sure if you will even be able to use 2 USB mics at the same time if they are running ASIO drivers for their input functions.

Anyway, you will need to go in and completely dissable your Creative ASIO drivers first, then re-start AA and tell it to use the USB mic drivers. You may need to re start again for the changes to take effect.

ASIO is a picky driver set up but it is really the best choice in most cases.

Ok, thanks. I got AA to work with both the USB mic and the creative inputs as input devices but now I can't get AA to see any activity on my USB mic but I can get activity on my creative input and it's not on ASIO.

The reason being is as I stated above. ASIO will not allow more then one input device at a time. And as far as I know you cannot run an ASIO driver set interface alongside another device running say WDM drivers. If AA is doing so it that is very odd. The main reason being is differant audio interfaces internal timing clocks/crystal's do not run at the same specific timing. That is the reason one clocked device must be choosen as the master recording/playback clock.

If you did get them to function together I would like the recipe you used as that would sure make life easier for a lot of folks out there on a budget trying to get differant interfaces to work together.

I've gotten it to work inside of n-Track, flawless recording of both the input of an audigy 2 ZS and a USB mic... again it's not ASIO but it's two different input devices recording in a multitrack setup. Sorry if I missed the point again but this was the way I got it to work... although in a roundabout way.

Ah, I see. So both the USB mic and the Audigy are running WDM drivers then?

And if I understand the mic is not working?
