DIY Cables
Hi All,
I haven't seen a whole lot on this topic so if there are existing posts, please let me know....

Basically, to save money, I wanted to make my own 1/4 inch and XLR cables. Most of the sites that sell kits dont save you much money so I was wondering if any of you are making your own cables and if so, where is a good place to get the supplies?

Tascam US144
Is the Tascam US144 USB audio interface a good buy? Or should I definitely buy some other interface? Anything to be leery of?

I was reading through past posts on this forum related to this and I came across someone mentioning that a preamp is needed with the Tascam US144, but the product description says that preamps are built in...

Voice processor for 3 voices (live). Any sugestions?
Im looking for a voice processor, or some way to enhance the quality of the voice signals when playing live. The thing is, my band has three vocalists. Do I need to buy three separate voice processors or is there a devide that can handle the three mic inputs? Thanks!

No idea about the Toneport KB37

I had no idea they discontinued the unit i am currently using, but i dont really get wats with the new model. From wat i read here its exactly the same except for packaging Amp Farm instead of Gearbox, which i dont know, i never feel like a software change merits the purchase of a whole new unit (not that i feel obligated to purchase a new unit)

When i read the name of the unit i thought they would have actualy POD functions built into it, like have a POD section to the keyboard.

I really like my unit but i dont really get this reincarnation

Alesis Multimix 12 firewire questions
I just purchased an alesis MULTIMIX 12 firewire amd have some questions I hope someone can answer. I am using this under VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT...

1. how do I update the firmware? I downloaded the firmware updater but when I try to run it, it crashes.

2. How come the 2 channel OUTPUT from the computer is HOTTER then anything else? I have to go into windows mixer and LOWER the volume there to almost 20% to get it normal...

3. in the multimix control panel, what does the setting under OPERATION MODE MEAN? I couldnt find any documentation (I am using the newest vista driver).. there is SAFE MODE level 1, 2 and 3.

4. What is the suggested buffer size??

5. I tried to get audacity to work but if I set the program for anthing more then telling it I have only 2 channels of input it doesnt open the multiumix and gives me an error when I press RECORD. All seems to work fine with ACID PRO.

USB Audio Interface
I would like to record some drum tracks out of my laptop onto my DAW. I think I need a USB Audio Interface; something like an M-Audio MobilePre USB. In other words a decent set of outputs vs my 1/8-inch headphone jack on my laptop. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Kirk

Behringer Xenyx 1002FX + Behringer OEM USB + ICON-02 for US $335
Hey everyone!

Does anyone know whether:

Behringer Xenyx 1002FX + Behringer OEM USB + ICON-02 mic

is worth US $335?

I am looking for an acceptable quality mic sound and a mixer that adequately mixes one channel each time smoothly. It does not have to be professional, just acceptable.

Thank you!

Hey Gang!

So I've moved into an apartment where recording super loud at night (my favourite time to record super loud) Is not an option, and the band and I want to get this album done and out of the way, so we're looking at getting a system of headphones for everyone. Ideally we'd like 6 sets for the band, and another 2 for the control room since we don't have a set of monitors. We'd also like for each musician to be able to adjust his own volume in the cans and maybe even their own EQ or reverb mix (I can't sing unless I have reverb... I know it's a crutch). Not having ever really used headphones I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to a system that could do this or come close to doing this. Current budget is about 400 for the set-up, but thats not a number set in stone. We're willing to shell out more if needed to have a good monitoring set up that won't piss of the neighbors who already have demonstrated that they aren't really fans. Any suggestions?

just showing off some speaker stand pics
I made some new speaker stands or hangs, in this case. i thought i would show some pics of them.

I made them to slide across the the rack so they can be posi'd anywhere you need em.
someone moved outta my place and left a steel bed frame and bed head behind so i used that for parts.

Only thing that dint work out so good was, and i only after 2 years just noticed, when i bought my speakers they gave me two left hand ones, so the one one the right sits off the bloody stand a bit to the right more, but hey, it works.

this is obviously the back

can anyone tell me if the tascam US-1641 is worth getting
Does anyone have anything to say from experience on the Tascam US-1641?
I have just taken back a Lexicon Omega that was a total pile, of, well you know and the bloke in the shop showed me the Tascam. Before i get it though would really like a run down from someone that has, or has had one. Wasted so much time on the Omega and dont wanna go down that path again.
Basicly i suppose, what, if anything goes wrong with it and what would i be better off buying if its dodgey.
