Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe
A friend went out of town for a week, and I borrowed her bass, which turned out to be an American Deluxe Jazz bass. I was totally stumped as to what all of the controls do...I figured out the volume knob, but that's about it :) After looking online, I found that teh rest of the controls were a pickup pan knob (which explains why it was center-detented) adn a 3-band active EQ.

I'm hoping to do some recording this week with it, and I was wondering if anybody had any tips on recording or playing a Fender jazz bass? And which controls are which for the active EQ?

Triton Le vs. Karma
I've narrowed my search down to 2. I know both are high powered peices of hardware and both are capable of doing great things.

Between the 2, which would make the best investment? Or is there any other boards, around the price range, that I may have overlooked?

I've read plenty of ratings on both, but I'd like to know what you folks think.

Best acoustic strings?
I have been using chronogenically frozen strings (medium) by Dean Markley on my acoustic/electric for quite some time. Beleive it or not, dispite they're awesome quality, I am not getting the tone and sound that I want. If you guys have any ideas or brands that I should check out, that'd be great. Also, please let me know of some strings that are very good for live performance as well as home recording. Overall, please tell me a brand that is an all around good string. Thanks a lot.

guitar surgery
anyone ever change out the electronics in your guitar? my strat has a bad volume knob (currently held stock-still with duct tape) which i need to replace. i also need to replace or clean my pickup switch. the neck position doesn't work at all.

it's been a while since i looked inside the guitar. a few years ago when the problem developed i took a peek but didnt see how to get the knob OUT. i can soldier ok. i think i trust myself to install a new knob. but i didnt see how to remove the old one. i guess you just pull real hard on the silver knob on top? and it comes off? then you can slide the knob's post out of the body? but i also seem to remember that the electronic part of the knob (the potentiometer itself) was anchored in the wood somehow? might be wrong about that. i just remember twiddling with it and giving up because it seemed firmly held and i didnt want to start surgery by yanking real hard on the diseased organ. that didn't seem right.

if anyone's ever done this, maybe you could tell me what's up with this.

Yamaha o1v setup
I just got a yamaha o1v mixer and I'm having trouble figuring it all out. I have a basic overview of how to use it the only problem I have is hooking it up (with my outboard stuff) to my interface. I'm running a digi 001, and I have a behringer composer pro, and a vtb1 mic pre. Can anyone help me with getting signal routed correctly into protools le via the 001, and back out of it back to the board? Thanks a lot.

akg c-1000s
so i just ran into a pair of akg c-1000s condensor microphones, which is very handy considering that i was looking for a pair of condensors that might be good overhead drum mic's. are these good for that purpose? some of the stuff i read said they're good for recording vocals groups, like choirs etc, but i'm not going to be doing a lot of that.

Outboard effects
Okey, I got a question. What I wanna do is run the signle out of the computer after it's been recorded, into the reack, out of the rack, and then into channels on my mixer and record the effected sound as a new track. I was thinking I would do it like this but thought i'd ask if anyone has any better ways to do it...

Phonics outs into Delta ins,
Delta out 1 and 2 into yamaha mixer in one and two,
Delta out 3 into left in of sampler,
Delta out 4 into left input of reverb,
Sampler out into Channel 5 of Phonics
Reverb out to Channel 6 of Phonics

That way I can assign anything I don't want to be affected to be played through delta 1 and 2 directly to the montioring console, and if I want to put some reverb on a track send that track to go out delta 4, and it would send it back into a new track to be recording, meaning I'd have one clean track and one effected track...

Will this work? Is there an easier way to do this?
