Well guys

Just thought I'd share some info with ye all...

I recently got a new hard drive, cleaned up and cleaned out (accidentally - got it back, long story, dont ask :-( my drive and found some stuff.

1) My entire back collection of songs
2) My original songs I ever wrote
3) Some stuff I thought I'd lost forever (songs!)

So, I found that I have written 54 songs since 1994. In fact, I wrote A LOT more but this is all I can find.

Spookily enough, my oldest song is "The Words" which I wrote in 94 but didnt do a thing with until 2003/2004 when I got into recording!

I also found the original Let It Go, which I wrote in 97. I discovered I wrote NOTHING for 5 years (I did, but not much and obviously so good I lost em!) so from 98-2003 I found not a thing!!!

And I discovered I wrote about 12 (what I consider good songs) over the last 12 months!!

Mad huh...amazing what ye find when ye take stock!

So, I have a mighty big pile of songs to work thru tho I must say, about half those are pretty rubbish, I wouldnt even bother with. I'll keep, but wont use.

But I do have a stack of others, of which, I have recorded 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, just sharing in some "talkin smack" material.

Off I go to make a start on the backlog of recording I Neglected for the last 12 years ;-)

Cheers

Coco.

EP be damned. Get thee forth and make an album!
I know, I still call them 'albums.'

Set to, McCoco, and make us all proud.

Feels good to get some "history" back, huh?

I recently found a cassette of some recordings from 1989-ish, with a project band I was with. About ten songs on there that I wrote, and had forgotten all about. Some may find new life. Some are soooooo 1989-ish (think Dan Reid Network, Roachford etc.), and should stay in the past.

This is actually a quite tried, and true time-base filter for writing quality stuff . The 'ol... "If it's worth remembering, you will remember it ." addage .

Not to say one should record as infrequently as m'self... or that I've apply this technique at any time through my endeavors... heh, it does sound like a good 'excuse' though !

"We serve no tune, before it's time ." Bah !

Aye - this is true guys!! So true...!

TC - I also found my first band I was in (at 15/16) tape ... oh God is that rough!! Yeahhh! But, fun too..found a gig ticket from when we "PEAKED" - best live venue in town at the time...paid next to nothing but at that age, rockin oot with yer mates, having a cheeky pint of beer and havin fun....great days!

Hue - AYE - singer in my now says this all the time...though I agree wit ya and its true his reasons are somewhat more evil..........he CONSTANTLY forgets the bloody lyrics! ;-) !! Often, to his OWN songs ;-) !!

hahaa.

Aye, its good. Am off to lay some tracks with some of this old stuff...good fun indeed.

Finding my old cassettes was what got me started doing music again. I've re-recorded probably half of them, the rest I don't know I may do a few more but some are best left to die. LOL

I also found a page of lyrics that I wrote for a song though I can't remember what the friggin song was. :D

Fun visting the old treasure chest ain't it! :)

Coco, ya gotta love it. I have still to install the drivers for my SparQ drive which is like a Jazz drive from Iomega. It uses 1 gig cartridges and I have about 30 or so left with old music and sessions on em. I am almost afriad to pop em in and see what they are. Most I am sure used synths that are now long gone from here. But it might get me to invest some real time in remixing them with newer software synths. That would be a ball.

As for the cassette thing. I have a few dozen with old live gigs, parties, practices and the little bits of genious that pop in at the strangest times. I will have to give a listen and see what I can fidn that would be ammusing these days and maybe pu tsomething up for a good laugh.
