phantom power

hi, i have a akg c1000s condenser mic, with a behringer ub502 mixer, i use a 9 V battery to power the mic and plug it in the balanced mic input of the ub502 (the ub502 mixer does not have phantom power)and i mic my guitar amplifier. according to the mic manual, the use of the battery does not cause the audio quality of the mic to be less than phantom power but id rather use a phantom power preamp instead of changing a 9 V. What are some good preamps i could look at? preferably under $200
or Should i just get a new mixer with phantom power?

DBX make a mini-pre, i was pretty stunned by that when i used it, clear and punchy, it's around £80 here. It's on my list.
