haha.. we just tracked guitar a while ago here in my place..

pls let me know what you think.. comments and everything! pls be honest :( i dont care whether its a bad comment lol.. just comment ! :)

www.soundclick.com/dodo (go click and listen to "Luha")

i directly recorded the guitar, from my friends effects (Korg AX100) directly to the mic in of my soundcard (Realtek Built-in EWW!) then double tracked it..

IMO, this sound is a lot cleaner than me micing my Peavey Bandit amp.. and thicker too :D

this track is only Drum and guitar, no bass yet..

excuse the sloppyness of the guitar cause we just came from a party and we're really drunk.. lol. we figured if we dont track now, we wont get to track later cause we wont wake up LOL!

anyhow, pls feel free to comment :D I wanna be a better engineer / drummer for my band.. (Quietus) :D

btw, the guitar is some cheap Fender Fat Strat Copy... (cheaper than a squier!) and the Korg AX100.. Output directly to my soundcard's mic in. then out to Adobe Audition

Fat second riff, and the harmony rahhhhhhhhh!

I'm listening on Event TR5's

I like the overall guitar tones. The drums sound VERY live. Maybe they could be made to sound a little more 'studio' because I think they sit a bit too far apart from the guitar in terms of their sound. i.e the guitars sound very direct and the drums don't.

Perhaps a bit of e.q to freshen up the guitars slightly. But that may be me being biased. If you want that kind of metal/Kyuss guitar sound I reckon you've more or less nailed it man.

I don't know. I wouldn't know how to do it. Just that's what I'd do if I did!

Great drumming though! If you can do that pissed then far traid my mucker.

Great stuff. Putting that sick 2nd riff on again phwroawwwwwwww!

Sounds pretty good to me. I think a bit of compression on the drums to fatten them up just a bit and a slight boost of the EQ on the mid's/upper mids for the guitar for a bit more definition would help. Especially after you add bass I think the guitar will sound a bit muddy in with it's current tone.

Great playing on both the guitar and drums!

Agree with the comments above. OD is spot on with the EQ advice for sure. The ;guitars definatley dont sound bad at all. And not really sloppy either. Nice track.

i tried compressing the drums using this setting..

attack - 10
release - 300
treshold - -5db
ratio - 4:1

thats the compressor in Sony Soundforge.. but it sounded kinda weird! @_@ my drums are just in 1 track.. 3 mics in 1 track..

i wanna buy a Delta1010LT already so i have control over the mics, but until then.. this is all i have..

software compressor ... @_@

anyhelp will do :)

ok i just added some compression on the drums.. err, cant upload it now.. will do later.. it sure made it louder but im really frustrated cause that damn bass drum cant be heard! LOL!

im just using 3 mics on my kit.. lol. all behringer XM1800 for kick and snare, and C-1 for overheads/toms.. i wanna add more so i have control over it ...

how can i add more "definition and click" to my bass drum ?? would the "tape a metal plate on the batter head" help in accentuating the beater smack ? I really like Vinnie Paul's (Pantera) Kick drum sound.. its really punchy and clicky..

Well, I haven't listened to the song yet, but are the drums tracked separately? If so, you should be able to process the kick with some EQing and compression on it's own help bring it out a little bit.

And it is tape a qurter to the inside of the drum head right where the beater hits it. And yes it does add defanition to the sound.

Good work.
You say that you did the guits direct?
What do you do to get the distortion / amp tone?

I like the dry drums myself.

I like it. I "hear" what you mean on the bass drum. Noize's trick does work, for the next time you record, but you need more "oomph" now, I think is what you mean, more "feel-it-in-the-chest"? If you've got a para-graphic (metric?) EQ (3-dial thingey, where you can adjust the width, frequency & level), you could dial-in a somewhat narrow "Q", boost rather high, say +6dB or more, so you find the "area" that will give the "hit" that you want, then bring it down so you don't "kill" your speakers/headphones. Experimentation will eventually get it, but someone else may be able to "dial" you in quick-like. A bass guitar being in there will help, also, and be sure to "leave room" for it later, also...

The quarter trick is not my trick by the way. It is an age old trick used since before I can remember.

fredz, that sounds 100% better. The guitars dont really sound behind the mix at all. The vox are fine as well. I loved the lyrics, even in Tadalog. It fits very well in the tune. You should allow that for download, I would have that in my playlist for sure. Reminds me a little bit of a couple differant bands. But I think overall you have doen a great job from where it began.
